    About the role#

    As a Radiation Effects Engineer Intern, you will support the modeling, analysis, and electrical testing of spacecraft hardware in space radiation environments. You will characterize electrical component degradation and execute hardware testing at laboratories across the U.S. This role is a twelve-week, full-time position.

    What you'll do#

    • Evaluate and electrically test fault-tolerant electrical systems in radiation environments.
    • Assist in creating electrical test plans, developing test fixtures, and documenting results.
    • Perform issue diagnosis and draft technical documentation.
    • Support radiation testing campaigns to up-screen components for TID and SEE, focusing on electrical parametric characterization.
    • Collaborate across teams to inform design decisions regarding radiation considerations.
    • Support test development, including breadboarding circuits, verifying automated test setups, and fabricating cable harnesses.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
    • Hands-on experience with electrical testing and troubleshooting.
    • Proficiency with electronics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and source meter units.
    • Experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB design software for schematic capture and layout.
    • Demonstrated ability to design, build, and test electrical hardware from scratch.
    • Familiarity with space radiation environments, semiconductor effects, and SPICE-based simulators like LTSpice or ADS.
    • Comfort with soldering, rework, and building specialized test harnesses.
    • Knowledge of fundamental electronics components and radiation transport software like FastRAD or MCNPX.

    • Compensation: $29.00 per hour.
    • Eligibility: This role requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected individual status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
