About the role#
Astranis is looking for a Propulsion Manufacturing Intern to join the team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco. You will work on hardware that is headed for space and contribute to the production of our satellite systems.
What you'll do#
- Design and build the factory that produces our satellites.
- Deliver a physical propulsion subsystem, from tank to thruster, that is ready to operate in space.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Solidworks, Creo, or NX.
- A drive for building things and hands-on design and development.
- An interest in manufacturing processes and applying that knowledge to improve production.
- A habit of fixing broken things, whether it is equipment, a process, or communication between teams.
- Experience building or testing liquid propulsion systems is preferred.
- Experience writing work instructions, test procedures, or using MES/ERP software is preferred.
- Experience with welding, machining, or designing welded and machined components is preferred.

- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Duration: Summer 2027 (12 weeks).
- Compensation: $29.00 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Eligibility: This role requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected individual status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.
