About the role#
This internship is a twelve-week, full-time hourly role based in San Francisco. You will work directly on complex engineering problems alongside our team. Interns at Astranis contribute to hardware and software that goes to space. This position is intended for students currently enrolled at a four-year university.
What you'll do#
- Design, analyze, build, and test propulsion system hardware.
- Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects to support Propulsion and company-wide initiatives.
- Apply your academic background to real-world engineering challenges while building professional team skills.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Understanding of spacecraft systems and operations through coursework or student organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
- Familiarity with spacecraft design, specifically chemical or electrical propulsion, is a plus.
- Experience with Python and prior test experience with spacecraft propulsion systems are also helpful.

- Term: Winter 2027.
- Pay: $29.00 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Eligibility: This position requires U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected individual status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to comply with export regulations.
