About the role#
Astranis is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role based in San Francisco. You will join our engineering team to work on satellite hardware and software. We provide interns with the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, and many past interns have seen their work launch into space.
What you'll do#
- Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test structures, bracketry, and mechanisms for our spacecraft.
- Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for various systems.
- Work with the team to integrate parts and systems into the spacecraft.
- Document and develop procedures to improve our build process.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical degree.
- You have a demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
- You have a strong interest in hardware development.
- Experience with CAD or analytical software like stress or thermal analysis is a plus.
- To comply with U.S. government space technology export regulations, you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
