About the role#
Astranis is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in San Francisco. You will join our engineering team to contribute to the design, construction, and testing of satellite hardware. This role is intended for students currently enrolled in a four-year university program.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software.
- Manage the design, evaluation, procurement, assembly, and testing of structures, bracketry, and mechanisms for our spacecraft.
- Conduct mechanical and thermal analysis for various spacecraft systems.
- Integrate components into the spacecraft and develop procedures to refine our build processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. program for Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- A demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
- Enthusiasm for hands-on hardware development.
- Experience with CAD, analytical software for stress or thermal analysis, electromechanical system design, or control system modeling is a plus.
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required due to export regulations.
