About the role#
Astranis is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Francisco. You will work alongside our engineering team to contribute to the design, construction, and testing of satellite hardware and software. This position is paid at a rate of $29.00 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Design, evaluate, procure, assemble, and test structures, bracketry, and mechanisms for our spacecraft.
- Perform mechanical and thermal analysis on spacecraft systems.
- Integrate components into the spacecraft.
- Document and develop procedures to refine our build processes.
- Collaborate with the broader engineering team to solve complex technical problems.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or an equivalent technical degree.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing hardware from scratch.
- Enthusiasm for hardware development.
- Ability to work in a demanding environment.
- Experience with CAD software.
- Familiarity with stress or thermal analysis tools.
- Experience with electromechanical system design and control system modeling.
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required to comply with export regulations.
