About the role#
Astranis is looking for a Mechanical Engineer Intern to contribute to our satellite programs. This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in San Francisco. You will join our engineering team to work on real hardware and software that supports our spacecraft. This role is designed for students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or mathematics.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design, build, and test satellite hardware and software.
- Design, procure, assemble, and test structures, bracketry, and mechanisms for our spacecraft.
- Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for various spacecraft systems.
- Integrate components into the spacecraft and develop procedures to improve our build processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a B.S. program for mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or mathematics.
- Hands-on experience with design and hardware development.
- A demonstrated ability to build and test hardware from scratch.
- Enthusiasm for working in a hands-on, hardware-focused environment.
- Bonus skills include experience with CAD, stress or thermal analysis software, electromechanical system design, or control system modeling.

- Compensation: $29.00 per hour.
