About the role#
The Harness Manufacturing Intern will support the design, build, and continuous improvement of wire harness and cable assembly processes. This role provides hands-on exposure to production environments, manufacturing documentation, quality systems, and process optimization in a low to medium volume production setting.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing engineers with process documentation and work instruction review.
- Assist with wire harness and cable assembly builds, including cutting, stripping, crimping, labeling, and lacing.
- Participate in quality inspections.
- Help analyze manufacturing issues such as defects, rework, and throughput constraints.
- Assist with equipment qualification, tooling and fixture improvements, and test setups.
- Support DFM/DFA feedback to engineering teams.
- Collect and review production data for process improvement initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiarity with spacecraft systems and operation.
- Must be onsite 5 days a week.
- Hands-on experience in designing, building, and testing hardware.
- Experience working in a laboratory or industrial environment.
- Experience in CAD.
- Direct electrical or mechanical design experience.
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status is required.
