About the role#
This internship is a full-time, twelve-week position for students currently enrolled in a four-year university program. You will join the harnessing design team to contribute to flight and test hardware. This role involves hands-on work, and past interns have contributed to hardware currently operating in space.
What you'll do#
- Design flight and test harnessing in collaboration with the team.
- Create wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings for spacecraft systems.
- Define interfaces between various subsystems by working with cross-functional teams.
- Use CAD programs to route harnessing in 3D.
- Select design components based on requirements for voltage, power, frequency, and data-rate using electrical engineering fundamentals.
- Partner with the production team to fabricate cables in-house.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. program in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or an equivalent technical degree.
- Interest in designing and working with spacecraft systems.
- Familiarity with power and data transmission concepts.
- U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status to comply with export regulations.
- Experience with Zuken or other harness design software is preferred.
- Experience with connectors and wire types, such as MIL circular and D-Sub/microD, is preferred.
- Experience with 3D CAD software like Solidworks is preferred.
