    About the role#

    Astranis is looking for an FPGA Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position based in San Francisco. You will work on hardware projects alongside our engineering teams. Interns at Astranis take on meaningful work, and many past interns have contributed to hardware that is now in space.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop RTL for FPGA applications.
    • Work with various FPGA platforms and toolchains.
    • Interface FPGAs with peripherals such as high-speed data converters, memories, and MCUs.
    • Write software to interface with and test RTL in hardware.
    • Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to complete projects.

    What you'll need#

    • US Citizenship or Green Card status is required.
    • Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
    • Experience designing, implementing, and testing high-throughput systems on FPGAs.
    • Proficiency in Verilog or SystemVerilog for synthesis.
    • Interest in hands-on hardware development.
    • Experience with UVM and advanced SystemVerilog verification is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Xilinx FPGAs, Vivado IDE, and TCL.
    • Understanding of system-level constraints like power, thermal, and real estate.
    • Experience with high-speed data converters, circuit-level debugging, or digital communication theory.
    • Knowledge of space-based systems or modern communication systems like RF and modulation.
    • Experience in a domain beyond logic design, such as DSP, software, or high-reliability design.

    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Pay: $29.00 per hour.
