About the role#
Astranis is hiring an FPGA Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site internship based in San Francisco. You will work on hardware projects alongside our engineering team, with the opportunity to contribute to systems destined for space. Internships typically last for twelve weeks.
What you'll do#
- Develop RTL for FPGA applications.
- Work with multiple FPGAs and various toolchains.
- Interface FPGAs with peripherals like high speed data converters, memories, and MCUs.
- Write software to interface with and test RTL in hardware.
- Collaborate with electrical and software engineers on technical projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or an equivalent field.
- US Citizenship or Green Card status.
- Experience designing, implementing, and testing high throughput systems on FPGAs.
- Proficiency with Verilog or SystemVerilog for synthesis.
- A strong interest in hardware development.
We also value experience with UVM, advanced SystemVerilog verification, Xilinx FPGAs, Vivado IDE, and TCL. Familiarity with system-level power, thermal, and real estate implications is helpful, as is experience with high speed data converters, circuit-level debugging, digital communication theory, space-based systems, and modern communication systems.
