About the role#
Astranis is looking for a CAD Engineer Intern to join the team for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site, paid position based in San Francisco. Interns at Astranis take on meaningful work on complex projects, with many past interns having designed hardware that has reached space.
What you'll do#
- Model and draw components, structures, and manifolds for spacecraft and supporting structures.
- Maintain and improve the design library and data infrastructure.
- Develop, ideate, and document practices that enable efficient design.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, or industrial design.
- Hands-on development experience and a passion for hardware.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks.
- Experience with GD+T and engineering drawings.
- Ability to work in an environment with frequent changes.
Bonus points for:
- Experience with the design of complex assemblies and components.
- Experience with spaceflight components or vacuum compatible systems.
- Experience with surface modeling.
