About the role#
Astra is hiring interns for the Winter and Spring 2027 terms. You will join our team in Alameda, California, to work on spacecraft and launch vehicle systems. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship. Successful applicants are matched to specific teams based on their skills and company needs.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the design, development, and testing of spacecraft and launch vehicle hardware.
- Support requirements definition, interface management, and integration activities for flight systems.
- Assist with CAD modeling, design for manufacturability, and structural or thermal design.
- Perform structural, thermal, or fluid analyses and contribute to trade studies.
- Participate in test campaigns to validate designs against flight requirements.
- Work on cross-disciplinary teams to solve engineering challenges.
- Prepare engineering drawings, test reports, and design documentation.
- Support general organization infrastructure across departments including Finance, Marketing, and Computer Science.
What you'll need#
- You must be an incoming Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at a 4-year institution or junior/community college.
- Hands-on project experience from internships, research, senior design projects, or extracurricular activities.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Motivation to learn in a professional environment.
- Status as a documented U.S. Person or the ability to receive a trade license for ITAR compliance.
