About the role#
This internship supports senior electrical staff in the design of power distribution, motor control, lighting, communications, and grid-tied DER systems. You will learn core engineering tasks, perform them independently, and review your results with senior team members. The role focuses on projects within the water, wastewater, and industrial sectors.
What you'll do#
- Perform load calculations, generator sizing, voltage drop analysis, fault current calculations, and modeling for electrical, lighting, and solar photovoltaic systems.
- Develop design plans and research solutions to specific client challenges.
- Prepare electrical design documents such as single-line diagrams, AC and DC elementary drawings, motor control schematics, and floor plans.
- Assist with cost estimates and review construction submittals.
- Coordinate with senior staff to meet project deadlines.
- Travel to client sites to observe and support the implementation of engineering designs.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor degree in electrical engineering with two to three years of study completed.
- Up to one year of internship or work experience in electrical engineering and design.
- A basic understanding of distribution power design.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, ETAP, Visual lighting software, and Elumtools.
- Experience with US Power electric utilities is preferred.
