About the role#
The Intern Funeral Director position provides a practical introduction to the funeral service profession. You will work alongside experienced directors to learn how to manage funeral arrangements, support grieving families, and handle operational tasks. This role is intended to help you build the skills necessary to become a licensed funeral director.
What you'll do#
- Assist in coordinating and organizing funeral services, including scheduling and venue preparation.
- Support the preparation and care of the deceased while following health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide compassionate communication to families as they navigate their options.
- Maintain accurate records, legal permits, and client documentation.
- Participate in training sessions and shadow experienced funeral directors.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in or completion of a recognized funeral service education program.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within the service area.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
- Background in Psychology is an asset.
