About the role#
The Student Worker Lead oversees food operations at the James Madison University East Campus Dining Hall. This role involves supervising staff, managing daily food production, and ensuring the facility runs efficiently. You will work on-site in a role that requires balancing administrative tasks with hands-on support in the dining hall.
What you'll do#
- Create and manage work schedules and prepare production records.
- Supervise and evaluate staff members to encourage teamwork and efficiency.
- Train and mentor other food service workers.
- Maintain a sanitary department that follows all health and safety codes.
- Ensure food items are stored in a safe and organized environment.
- Handle inventory, prepare orders, and perform equipment maintenance checks.
- Fill in for absent employees and assist with catering events as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a student at the James Madison University location.
- Ability to read, write, and understand verbal instructions.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
- A commitment to completing a sanitation course within your first year.
- Ability to maintain emotional control during busy or stressful shifts.
- Knowledge of how to run a cost-effective program.
- Majors in Business Administration, Nutrition, or Civil Engineering are relevant to this work.
