About the role#
This is a paid, full-time student worker position for the Summer 2026 term at the University of South Carolina. The role focuses on food preparation, catering support, and customer service within the campus dining operations. Students from all majors, including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Nutrition, Public Health, and Agriculture, are encouraged to apply.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and assemble food items following standardized recipes and instructions.
- Store food products properly according to established safety standards.
- Set up, break down, clean, and sanitize workstations such as prep tables, service counters, and steam tables.
- Serve customers, replenish food stock, and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to safety policies, sanitation procedures, and maintain the security of company assets.
- Maintain a positive demeanor when interacting with guests, clients, and coworkers.
What you'll need#
- Ability to obtain or possess a food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear a uniform and use personal protective equipment as required.
