About the role#
This student worker position supports food service and catering operations at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The role focuses on food preparation, workstation management, and providing high-quality service to the campus community. This is a paid, on-site position with a rolling application window.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and assemble food items following standardized recipes and instructions.
- Set up workstations, including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers while anticipating their needs and ensuring satisfaction.
- Replenish food stock to maintain appropriate levels throughout service.
- Clean, sanitize, and break down workstations after use.
- Store food properly according to safety standards.
- Maintain a positive demeanor and provide excellent service to guests, clients, and coworkers.
- Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies while ensuring the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to demonstrate strong guest service skills.
- Must hold or be willing to acquire a food safety certification.
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear required uniforms or personal protective equipment.
- This role is open to students across various fields of study, including Civil Engineering, Communications, Business Administration, and Human Resources.
