About the role#
This position is for a Student Worker in Food Service or Catering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute. The role is a paid, on-site opportunity open to students of various disciplines, including Civil Engineering, Communications, Business Administration, and Human Resources.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items following standardized recipes and directions.
- Set up workstations, including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers while ensuring guest satisfaction and anticipating needs.
- Replenish food items and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Properly store food in accordance with established standards.
- Maintain a positive demeanor and provide excellent customer service to guests, clients, and co-workers.
- Adhere to safety policies, including food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Break down, clean, and sanitize workstations.
- Ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to obtain food safety certification.
- Strong guest service skills.
- Previous food service experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear uniforms or use Personal Protective Equipment as required.
