About the role#
This position is for a Student Food Services and Catering Worker at Middle Tennessee State University. You will assist with food preparation and service while gaining experience in a professional hospitality environment. This is a paid, full-time role for the Summer 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and build food items following standardized recipes and directions.
- Set up workstations, including prep tables, service counters, hot wells, and steam tables.
- Serve food to customers and anticipate their needs.
- Maintain a positive demeanor with guests, clients, and co-workers.
- Store food properly according to safety standards.
- Break down, clean, and sanitize workstations.
- Replenish food items to ensure appropriate stock levels.
- Follow company safety policies, including food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ensure the security of company assets.
What you'll need#
- Ability to demonstrate guest service skills.
- Must have or be willing to acquire food safety certification.
- Previous food service experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to meet physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
- Willingness to wear a uniform or use Personal Protective Equipment as required.
- This role is open to students in majors including Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Human Resources, Nutrition, Kinesiology, and Public Health.
