This co-op position supports the Anduril Maritime team in the design and development of large-displacement Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). You will work within a small team of engineers to design, build, and test hardware, taking ownership of scoped projects from start to finish with support from a mentor.
What you'll do#
- Own one or more scoped engineering projects end to end.
- Perform hull form resistance studies and parametric resistance analysis.
- Conduct internal volume and arrangement trade studies to confirm hydrostatic support and balance.
- Develop stability and loading conditions, including equilibrium polygons and GZ curves.
- Execute structural scantling analysis for vehicle sections.
- Design concepts for deployment and recovery systems, including mechanism sizing and loads analysis.
- Compare propulsion architectures based on efficiency, weight, cost, and complexity.
- Conduct producibility and manufacturing studies for hull fabrication approaches.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
- Working knowledge of naval-architecture analysis tools such as Maxsurf, Rhino, Orca3D, or GHS.
- Ability to define and deliver a self-contained engineering artifact within an 8-week timeframe.
- Hands-on experience building or testing hardware through machining, fabrication, assembly, or model building.
- Familiarity with classification society rules (ABS, DNV) for structural scantlings.
- U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.
