About the role#
This co-op position offers the opportunity to join the Anduril Maritime team in designing and building autonomous underwater vehicles. You will work within a small team of engineers to design, build, and test hardware. You will own one or more scoped projects from start to finish with support from a mentor.
What you'll do#
- Perform hull form resistance studies and parametric resistance analysis on candidate hull variants.
- Conduct internal volume and arrangement trade studies, including weight and buoyancy balance.
- Develop stability and loading conditions, such as equilibrium polygons and GZ curves.
- Perform structural scantling analysis to size primary structures like frames and bulkheads.
- Conduct producibility and manufacturing studies to assess hull fabrication approaches.
- Design concepts for deployment and recovery systems, including mechanism sizing and loads analysis.
- Compare propulsion architectures, including electric, mechanical, and hybrid systems, against mission profiles.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for naval architecture, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
- Coursework or project experience in ship hydrostatics, resistance, structures, or stability.
- Working knowledge of analysis tools such as Maxsurf, Rhino, Orca3D, GHS, or equivalent.
- Ability to define and deliver a self-contained engineering artifact within 8 weeks.
- Hands-on experience building or testing hardware through machining, fabrication, assembly, or model building.
- Familiarity with classification society rules like ABS or DNV for structural scantlings.
- U.S. Person status to access export-controlled data.
