About the role#
As a Manufacturing Leadership Intern, you will work with plant leadership, technicians, and manufacturing teams to improve productivity and decision-making. You will focus on applying artificial intelligence and data-driven problem solving to real-world manufacturing challenges. This role offers the chance to gain leadership experience while developing practical tools that support frontline operations.
What you'll do#
- Learn manufacturing processes and how work flows through the plant.
- Partner with technicians and leaders to identify operational challenges.
- Evaluate how AI and digital tools can simplify work and improve decision-making.
- Develop and test a prototype, workflow, or tool using approved AI capabilities.
- Gather feedback from end users to refine your solutions.
- Present your recommendations and findings to manufacturing leaders.
What you'll need#
- You are an undergraduate student who has completed your junior or senior year and will remain academically active during the internship.
- You are pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- A foundational understanding of statistics and data analysis.
- Experience using data to identify trends and support recommendations.
- An interest in emerging AI technologies and their business applications.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
- A natural curiosity, critical thinking skills, and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to influence others and work effectively in team environments.
Location & details#
- Location: Ada, Michigan.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time. This is an on-site role requiring presence in Ada Monday through Thursday, with Friday as a remote optional day.
- Compensation: Paid internship with a pay rate based on your completed class year.
