About the role#
The Fabrication & Prototyping team turns concepts into physical models that help evaluate product form, function, and usability. You will work within the Research & Development division to support innovation projects from early exploration through final testing. This role involves a mix of digital modeling, 3D printing, and hands-on fabrication to help project teams make design decisions.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Model Makers, Industrial Designers, and Product Designers.
- Transform packaging and product concepts into functional physical prototypes.
- Create CAD models to support active innovation projects.
- Operate 3D printers and fabricate prototype parts.
- Assemble physical product models and prepare them for review.
- Apply finishing techniques such as sanding, painting, and coating.
- Support prototype testing and incorporate feedback into updated builds.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a two-year technical, vocational, skilled trades, or non-traditional educational program.
- Training in fabrication, prototyping, machining, or related fields.
- Proficiency in CAD modeling software.
- Knowledge of 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
- Experience with workshop equipment and assembly methods.
- Understanding of manufacturing materials and finishing techniques.
- Ability to interpret design visions and adapt to project iterations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

- Location: Ada Township, Michigan.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: Hybrid (Onsite Monday through Thursday, remote optional on Friday).
- Employment: Full-time paid internship.
