    About the role#

    The American Society of Civil Engineers is looking for a Senior Manager to oversee student conferences and competitions. This role focuses on delivering programs that support student members through regional symposia and the ASCE Civil Engineering Student Championships. You will work with student chapters, volunteers, and educators to help students build leadership and technical skills as they transition into the profession.

    What you'll do#

    • Lead planning and coordination for 21 annual regional student symposia.
    • Act as the primary liaison to student symposium hosts and volunteer leadership teams.
    • Manage event logistics including registration, websites, communications, surveys, and reporting.
    • Support student competitions by coordinating rules committees, judges, partner organizations, and logistics.
    • Handle competition submissions, awards procurement, and team communications.
    • Assist with the ASCE Civil Engineering Student Championships, covering finalist eligibility, registration, and onsite operations.
    • Create and maintain resources and guides for volunteers and participants.
    • Oversee program budgets, vendor invoices, reimbursements, and records.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure successful student engagement initiatives.

    What you'll need#

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
    • At least 6 years of experience in association management or a similar environment.
    • Background in event planning, project management, volunteer engagement, or community relations.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
    • Experience with association management systems, content management platforms, or member engagement tools.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Reston, Virginia.
    • Work Modality: Hybrid.
    • This position requires occasional travel and weekend support for student symposia, championships, and other events.
