About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a non-profit health organization. You will support initiatives focused on improving community health outcomes, including work related to hypertension control, nutrition insecurity, and tobacco prevention. The role is designed to help you build practical skills while contributing to the mission of fighting cardiovascular disease and stroke.
What you'll do#
- Organize and implement culturally appropriate health programs.
- Engage with rural healthcare centers and local organizations to identify collaboration opportunities.
- Support program evaluations and communicate the impact of local work.
- Identify and develop impact stories for internal and external sharing.
- Create and manage a volunteer database while responding to inquiries.
- Develop resources such as playbooks and health tools.
- Assist in planning community impact meetings and training sessions.
- Attend internal meetings, health fairs, and community events.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a senior or graduate student in public health, community health, advocacy, or a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint, plus basic knowledge of Canva.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and maintain attention to detail.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are preferred.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 25, 2027, to May 7, 2027).
- Location: Remote, based in the Orlando, Florida area.
- Schedule: Minimum of 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm.
- Equipment: You must have a reliable Wi-Fi connection and reliable transportation for local community events and meetings.
