About the role#
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention offers an internship at the Eastern Pennsylvania chapter level. You will gain hands-on experience working with staff, board members, and volunteers to support the operational functions of the chapter. This role focuses on planning and coordinating activities outlined in yearly business plans, including walks, healing programs, and advocacy work. This is an unpaid position, though a stipend of $500 monthly is provided. You must receive college credit for your participation.
What you'll do#
You will assist with the planning and implementation of local programs and events. Your daily tasks include:
- Calling past participants to invite them to chapter events.
- Emailing current participants about upcoming incentives and opportunities.
- Drafting email communications.
- Posting updates on chapter social media channels.
- Creating flyers and promotional materials using provided Canva templates.
- Running reports and updating tracking sheets for events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program requiring college credit for internships, specifically in Marketing, Business Administration, or Communications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort making phone calls on behalf of the organization.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel across the chapter territory as needed.
- A high level of trust and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
Location & details#
This is a remote and hybrid position based in Eastern Pennsylvania. You must have the capacity to work remotely within the chapter territory and attend in-person meetings or events as required. The term runs from June through August 2026, with a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week.
