About the role#
As a Cybersecurity Analyst Intern, you will join a 10-week summer program focused on protecting American Express information systems, customer data, and digital assets. You will work alongside cybersecurity teams, product partners, and software developers to understand how security controls and threat detection capabilities are designed and implemented. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to security operations, architecture, and AI-enabled workflows under the guidance of experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Monitor security systems and events using logs and alerts to identify potential threats.
- Triage and investigate security or operational issues to determine root causes and mitigation strategies.
- Assist with security documentation and the tracking of assessment findings.
- Collaborate with software development and product teams to integrate security into the development lifecycle.
- Conduct research on emerging cyber threats and new security technologies.
- Support secure network, endpoint, and identity management activities.
What you'll need#
- You must be pursuing a Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Graduation date must be between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A foundational understanding of cybersecurity, information security, application security, network security, cloud security, or technology risk concepts.
- Interest in scripting or automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
