About the role#
As a Merchandising Intern, you will partner with a merchant on either the AE or Aerie team. Over 10 weeks, you will learn how to create, edit, and produce the product assortments found in our stores. You will gain exposure to the entire lifecycle of a product, from initial concept through to production. This role balances a passion for retail trends with strong analytical and business skills.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing daily sales recaps and analyze performance trends to inform business strategies.
- Conduct competitor analysis and comp shopping to identify product and market trends.
- Support sample trafficking using internal systems and coordinate with relevant teams.
- Gain exposure to the business recap process and learn to craft data-driven trend stories.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather a holistic view of the business.
- Present milestone projects and a final project with insights to merchandising leadership.
- Attend classes and team meetings to connect your learning to real-world applications.
What you'll need#
- Rising Senior at a 4-year college or university pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or Economics.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- High proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Strong business acumen gained through classes, internships, or prior work experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and solve problems in a busy work environment.
- Must be local to the AEO Home Office in New York, NY for the duration of the internship.
- Applicants must complete a project and pass an Advanced Retail Math Test during the interview process.
