    About the role#

    The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is hiring a Community Engagement Intern to support the Tobacco Project initiative. This program focuses on reducing tobacco-related disparities within the Hispanic and Latino communities in Vacaville and Solano County. You will work in a hybrid capacity, balancing virtual tasks with in-person community events and weekend activities.

    What you'll do#

    • Represent the organization at local health fairs, workshops, and information sessions.
    • Distribute educational materials, conduct public surveys, and collect petition signatures.
    • Create outreach materials like flyers and digital content to reach non-English speaking residents.
    • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various outreach efforts.
    • Manage social media accounts on Facebook and Instagram, including scheduling posts and creating short videos.
    • Participate in advocacy campaigns and collaborate with local stakeholders and policymakers.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an accredited college or university.
    • Completion of at least 60 semester units.
    • A major in public health, political science, social science, environmental engineering, or computer science.
    • Ability to commit to 10 hours of work per week.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Alameda, California.
    • Work schedule: Hybrid, including some weekends.
    • Duration: 8 weeks.
    • Pay: $20 to $22 per hour.
