About the role#
Allegion is seeking a Maintenance intern to join the team for the summer of 2027. This position offers hands-on experience in a manufacturing and automation environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers and technicians to contribute to real-world projects and build technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Apply lubrication, pneumatic, and mechanical maintenance to production equipment.
- Assist with the development and troubleshooting of automation systems.
- Support the installation, testing, and startup of new manufacturing equipment.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action for engineering issues.
- Operate test equipment such as multi-meters, indicators, and measurement tools.
- Fabricate equipment through processes like cutting, welding, and grinding.
- Manage the preventive maintenance work order system and daily maintenance workload.
- Track and report on metrics regarding schedule attainment and machine downtime.
- Design and implement fixturing, process tooling, and error proofing systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on the installation of new robotic processes.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair activities follow proper safety procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a technical or electrical training program, engineering technology, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in or a willingness to learn hands-on electrical and computer diagnostic tools.
- Experience in or a willingness to learn hands-on use of mechanical tools and equipment.
- A strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude capable of managing multiple tasks under supervision.
- A willingness to collaborate cross-functionally in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
