    About the role#

    As a Firmware Engineer Intern at Allegion, you will contribute to the Firmware Engineering Competency. This full-time, paid summer internship provides hands-on experience in the development of electronic locking systems and access control solutions. You will work on real projects, collaborate with team members, and gain exposure to professional development opportunities.

    What you'll do#

    • Define and scope requirements for firmware.
    • Design and document architecture.
    • Perform coding, testing, and integration into larger modular systems.
    • Participate in peer reviews on design and code.
    • Deepen your understanding of programming languages, including C, C#, and Python.
    • Gain familiarity with test suites such as PowerBI and Ceedling Unit Test.
    • Utilize tools like functional block diagrams, flow diagrams, and state-diagrams.
    • Use electrical tools including digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and digital logic analyzers.
    • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with project teams.

    What you'll need#

    • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technology fields.
    • Completion of at least one class in C programming.
    • Basic understanding of electronics.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative.
    • Ability to work effectively in both team and individual settings.
    • Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills.
    • Resiliency and the ability to adapt quickly.
    • A desire to learn and grow.
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

    • Location: Indianapolis, Indiana (On-site).
