About the role#
This is a part-time, on-site internship based in Rancho Cordova, California. You will report directly to the Risk Manager and gain practical experience in vendor risk management, insurance compliance, and claims administration. This role provides exposure to multiple business functions and helps build a foundation for a career in risk management, compliance, insurance, or finance.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the review of vendor onboarding documentation, contracts, and insurance requirements.
- Support the vendor approval process by gathering and organizing documentation.
- Review vendor records for compliance and follow up on missing or expired items.
- Maintain vendor files and track compliance requirements.
- Learn how risk assessments are conducted for various vendor relationships.
- Review Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate insurance-related requests from internal stakeholders and external business partners.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to claims management, including recordkeeping for workers' compensation, auto, general liability, and property claims.
- Compile information for internal departments regarding incidents and claims.
- Prepare recurring reports, spreadsheets, and compliance tracking documents.
- Communicate with subsidiary personnel regarding vendor compliance.
- Participate in projects to improve risk management processes and reporting tools.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Legal Studies, Economics, or Supply Chain Management (junior or senior standing preferred).
- Demonstrated interest in corporate risk management and business operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with document management systems like SharePoint.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Bonus qualifications include experience with data analysis, Power BI, or relevant coursework in insurance, legal, or compliance topics.
