About the role#
As a Controls Engineer Intern, you will support the software design and programming of HVAC and utility plant sequences. You will work with building automation controllers and assist construction and service technicians. This position is based on-site in Chelmsford and supports projects throughout the Greater Boston Area.
What you'll do#
- Review project specifications, drawings, and documents to understand project intent.
- Program HVAC and utility sequences of operations.
- Perform startup and commissioning for large systems like AHUs and chiller plants.
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot IP and RS-485 networks.
- Configure alarming and reporting for automation systems.
- Create and route project-specific documentation and Request for Information forms.
- Assist with project estimating, scope development, and fundamental design.
What you'll need#
- An engineering degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Experience with building automation, PLC programming, or other programming languages.
- Ability to travel to and work on construction sites for commissioning and startup tasks.
- Preferred experience includes Siemens TIA and Tridium Niagara programming.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
