About the role#
Airbus is hiring interns for the Quality Assurance department at our Kinston, North Carolina facility for Summer 2027. This 10-12 week program offers students practical experience in the aviation manufacturing industry. You will work directly with a mentor to solve real-world problems while gaining exposure to the production of composite aerostructures for the Airbus A350 XWB.
What you'll do#
- Support the Quality team with projects involving lean manufacturing, process improvement, innovation, and six sigma.
- Learn and apply root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes.
- Update visual management schemes and metrics to support manufacturing operations.
- Document 5S scores, housekeeping audits, and foreign object debris (FOD) levels.
- Assist with compliance tasks and other assigned duties.
- Participate in facility tours and professional development activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing.
- Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering majors are preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Familiarity with technical terms.
- Authorization to work in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
- AutoCAD and VBA proficiency are preferred.
- Prior Airbus internship experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in Kinston, NC.
- Candidates must be willing to live in the Kinston area during the term.
- This role requires daily use of computers, occasional lifting up to 10 lbs, and the ability to walk through office and production areas.
- Steel-toed shoes and other personal protective equipment are required for shop floor visits.
