About the role#
Midwest Mechanical Solutions, a member of the AIR Control Concepts family, is seeking a Human Resources Intern to support the Regional HR Director. This part-time role provides hands-on exposure to HR administration, including compliance, payroll, onboarding, and record management. The intern will assist in fostering a positive workplace culture while gaining practical experience in daily HR operations.
What you'll do#
- Support new hire onboarding by managing paperwork, background checks, drug screens, and I-9 verification.
- Assist with the termination process, including the collection of company property, file closing, and final payroll processing.
- Organize and maintain both digital and physical employee files, including tracking and scanning documentation.
- Help track employee training initiatives and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Support the HR Director with special projects and strategic departmental objectives.
- Perform additional clerical tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information.
- Knowledge of current human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with prior experience in HRIS or payroll systems considered a plus.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
