About the role#
As a Biomedical Technician Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the field while working at our West Milwaukee location. This internship focuses on developing your skills in equipment maintenance, repair, and clinical support. You will work alongside our team to ensure medical equipment is safe, functional, and ready for patient care.
What you'll do#
- Perform operational verification, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs on medical equipment.
- Complete all necessary documentation and computer data entry to ensure accurate billing and regulatory compliance.
- Communicate with clinical staff regarding equipment features and functionality.
- Provide courteous service while meeting productivity objectives and service targets.
- Maintain inventory levels and keep your work environment clean and safe.
- Assist with technical training as requested.
- Use effective conflict resolution skills to address service concerns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited 2 or 4 year biomedical program.
- Status as a final year student with a graduation date within 12 months.
- A recommendation from your instructor.
- Competency in performing operational verification, maintenance, and repair on various equipment.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as electrical safety analyzers, digital multi-meters, and patient simulators.
- Ability to read and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
- A basic understanding of computer networks, equipment interfacing, and industry regulatory requirements.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift or push 75 pounds and stand or walk for long periods.
- Willingness to travel periodically to support business needs.
