About the role#
Aecon is seeking Engineering Co-op students to join our Foundations division. This is an on-site, full-time position that offers exposure to heavy civil construction. You will participate in day-to-day project management, resource allocation, scheduling, and cost control while gaining hands-on experience in the field.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and analyze data to provide regular reports to project staff and stakeholders.
- Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with daily operations.
- Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and take-offs from construction drawings.
- Monitor project progress, assist with job cost reports, and provide input for month-end reconciliation.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering drawings, design estimates, and bills of materials.
- Maintain project files and correspondence while liaising with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
- Perform administrative duties as needed and work effectively with minimal supervision.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a university or technical college program for Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, materials, and standards.
- A valid driver's license with a clean abstract.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Flexibility to work day or night shifts as required.
- Willingness to relocate or travel for the position.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Experience in the construction industry and knowledge of AutoCAD or Bluebeam are considered assets.
