About the role#
The Communications Assistant supports the daily operations of the Communications and Media Technologies Department. This role assists faculty, staff, and students while helping maintain studio spaces and equipment. It is a Federal Work Study position designed to build your skills in broadcast production, audio mixing, and department administration.
What you'll do#
- Support the department director, staff, and faculty with daily tasks.
- Keep department areas clean and organized, including managing office supplies.
- Create and update flyers and display walls.
- Set up classrooms and assist with transitions between classes.
- Operate and maintain studio equipment, including video cameras, teleprompters, and chromakey systems.
- Help students with proper handling of video and audio gear.
- Manage office equipment like copiers and printers, including stocking supplies and reporting maintenance needs.
What you'll need#
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of gear and wire handling.
- A foundation in audio or film production.
- Current Federal Work Study eligibility.
Location & details#
- Location: 79 New Montgomery Street, San Francisco, California.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 5 to 20 hours per week, scheduled around your classes.
- Pay: $19.61 per hour.
- Employment Term: Rolling, from your starting term through graduation.
