About the role#
As a PhD Co-op in the Electrophysiology (EP) business, you will support the Clinical Affairs organization by developing AI solutions and advanced predictive analytics. You will work with clinical trial, procedural, imaging, and outcomes data to generate evidence that supports future product innovation and scientific publication. This is a full-time, paid position based in St. Paul, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
- Design, train, and evaluate predictive models for clinical trial enrollment forecasting and clinical outcomes.
- Build data pipelines for harmonizing and curating diverse clinical and procedural datasets.
- Perform data quality assessments, feature engineering, and model-ready dataset creation.
- Integrate and analyze large multimodal datasets, including medical imaging, clinical records, adverse event data, and trial information.
- Apply statistical, predictive, and generative AI techniques to improve model accuracy.
- Collaborate with clinical scientists to identify meaningful research questions and endpoints.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Support the development of scientific abstracts and publications.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master's or PhD program in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Health Informatics, Engineering, or a related field (PhD candidates preferred).
- Advanced proficiency in Python.
- Experience with software development, version control, and code documentation.
- Familiarity with core machine learning concepts, statistics, and frameworks.
- Experience developing machine learning or advanced analytical models.
- Proficiency using Git and familiarity with shell-based or cloud development environments.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data mining.
- Experience managing and analyzing large datasets.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and an eagerness to research new AI technologies independently.
- Preferred experience includes R, SQL, MATLAB, or Julia, as well as deep learning, NLP, or generative AI libraries.

- Pay: $17.85 - $35.75 per hour.
