About the role#
The Foster Care Support Intern will support the Foster Care and In-Home DCS Program. This role provides exposure to child welfare services, case management, and program logistics. You will work under supervision to gain experience in documentation and case coordination while building skills relevant to social work, psychology, human services, and related fields.
What you'll do#
- Observe and assist with client intakes, case documentation, and case file audits.
- Support foster care staff with the organization of donation items, resource binders, and supplies.
- Attend staff and case review meetings and take observation notes.
- Accompany staff on supervised visitations and assist with documentation.
- Assist with coordinating foster parent communications, trainings, or support services.
- Participate in administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and preparing packets for home visits.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university academic program related to the internship, with a requirement to seek academic credit.
- Possession of a valid Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Ability to pass a DES or DCS Central Registry background check.
- Ability to maintain reliable attendance and follow supervisor instructions.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Adherence to organizational policies and mandated reporting requirements.

- Location: Mesa, AZ.
- Work Modality: On-site, hybrid, or remote, depending on program needs and supervisor approval.
- Commitment: 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Schedule: Flexible, based on academic and program requirements.
- Status: Unpaid, for academic credit only.
