About the role#
A.N. Publishing is seeking a Journalism Editor for a 12-month internship to support the POC Society platform. This is a part-time, unpaid, and fully remote role. Candidates may use this position for class credit or as a professional development opportunity. While residents of major metropolitan areas are encouraged to apply, the position is open to qualified applicants regardless of location.
What you'll do#
- Act as a ranking site manager under the direction of the Publisher.
- Select and supervise site contributors while disseminating assignments that align with the platform's target demographic.
- Guide contributors through the editorial process, from developing original ideas to finalizing AP Style articles.
- Review and approve content, including cross-checking all citations and references.
- Manage production requirements and meet stringent deadlines.
- Create and disseminate information to the staff.
What you'll need#
- Superior verbal and written communication skills with expert-level proficiency in AP Style.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make effective decisions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of diverse international social and political landscapes.
- Proven capacity to analyze and interpret international social and political events from multiple perspectives.
- Exceptional time management skills and a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Ability to oversee the development of news features and lead a team of reporters.
- Proficiency in learning and adapting to new online content platforms.
- Current enrollment in or completion of a degree in Journalism, English, or Media Studies is preferred.
