About the role#
As a Quality & Manufacturing Intern, you will focus on the assembly, testing, and quality assurance of Zipline products. This role is divided into two primary disciplines: Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) and Manufacturing Quality Engineering (MQE). You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturing processes are efficient, scalable, and compliant with rigorous quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning, budgeting, design, procurement, commissioning, and validation of assembly lines and associated equipment.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including manufacturing process flows, process FMEA, work instructions, and training plans.
- Design fixtures for assembly and inspection, and propose automation strategies to improve manufacturing robustness.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone diagrams.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and quality metrics, including first-pass yield and deviation reporting.
- Support continuous improvement projects to enhance line performance, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Mathematics.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a preference for NX.
- Understanding of traditional and non-traditional manufacturing processes, such as machining, injection molding, sheet metal stamping, 3D printing, and PCBA manufacturing.
- Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is in a constant state of evolution.
