About the role#
As a Quality & Manufacturing Intern, you will join either the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) or Manufacturing Quality Engineering (MQE) team. You will contribute to the assembly, testing, and quality standards for Zipline products. This role involves working with cross-functional stakeholders to refine manufacturing processes and ensure product reliability from prototyping through high-volume production.
What you'll do#
- Assist with Design for X (DfX) conversations for top-level assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including process flows, FMEA, and work instructions.
- Design assembly and inspection fixtures while proposing automation strategies.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions to troubleshoot production issues.
- Establish and monitor assembly line performance KPIs, such as first-pass yield and delivery metrics.
- Assist in training operators and providing technical support for plant operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance line performance and reduce costs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Completion of at least the second year of undergraduate studies.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, with a preference for NX.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T.
- Understanding of traditional and non-traditional manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with problem-solving frameworks such as 8D, FTA, and Pareto Analysis.
