About the role#
As a Civil and Structural Engineer Intern on the Ground Systems Deployment team, you will contribute to the rollout of Zipline’s site infrastructure. You will help shape how drone infrastructure integrates with the built environment by supporting the design and permitting of new sites. This position requires working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure site layouts meet engineering requirements and municipal codes.
What you'll do#
- Support the civil and structural design of new sites, including foundations, equipment pads, and charging infrastructure.
- Perform structural calculations and develop design documentation for permitting and construction.
- Help create and improve reusable design standards for ground-system hardware.
- Support permitting and regulatory reviews by coordinating with municipalities, inspectors, and consultants.
- Collaborate with teams across Real Estate, Systems Engineering, and Tower Engineering to address site layout and constructability.
- Evaluate engineering challenges to develop solutions that improve safety and deployment speed.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in Civil, Structural, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam and drafting software such as AutoCAD or Revit.
- Experience working with building codes and developing site plans.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
- The term takes place during Summer 2027.
