About the role#
As an Aerodynamics Intern, you will join the team responsible for the aerodynamic performance of our aircraft. You will work on current projects alongside our engineers, applying your academic knowledge to solve real-world problems. This role involves using a variety of tools, ranging from low-fidelity calculations to CFD simulation and experimental analysis, to drive the design of our current and future products.
What you'll do#
- Analyze vehicle design, including aerodynamics, propulsion, and power system performance.
- Create low- and high-fidelity analytical models of vehicle subsystems and behaviors.
- Generate aerodynamic databases and analyze flight behaviors.
- Plan and execute experiments, ranging from wind tunnels to flight tests, and analyze the resulting data.
- Support a multidisciplinary team to tackle design challenges and resolve time-sensitive issues.
What you'll need#
- Current studies in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, flight physics, aeronautical engineering, or acoustics.
- A strong grasp of technical content in aerodynamics and related fields to exercise sound engineering judgment.
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics tools such as STAR-CCM+, Fluent, OpenFOAM, or PowerFLOW.
- Pursuit of a degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship based in South San Francisco, California.
- The term runs during Winter 2027 (January to April/May).
- This position is paid.
