    About the role#

    The Elizabeth Frankel Fellowship is a 10-week summer program designed to train law students in advocating for immigrant children. Fellows work under the guidance of staff to honor a child's wishes through strategic advocacy. This is a full-time, paid position running from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. Fellows receive a $12,000 stipend.

    What you'll do#

    • Serve as a Child Advocate for individual children.
    • Communicate with various stakeholders.
    • Conduct legal research and writing.
    • Draft best interests determinations.
    • Engage in policy advocacy through ongoing initiatives.

    What you'll need#

    • Current law student status as a rising 2L or 3L.
    • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English, both oral and written.
    • A valid driver’s license and access to a car.
    • Relevant academic background in Political Science, International Relations, Sociology, History, or Criminal Justice.

    Location & details#

    This fellowship is based in Houston, Texas. The program includes required travel to Harlingen, Texas, and New York, New York, to observe different aspects of the immigration system. All travel expenses for the fellowship are covered. This position is on-site and requires a criminal background check, a child abuse and neglect check, and a tuberculosis test.
