About the role#
The Immigrant Protection Unit offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in civil legal services. You will work directly with clients under the supervision of an attorney. The caseload includes detained and non-detained defense from removal, asylum applications, and humanitarian-based filings such as U visas, T visas, and self-petitions for domestic violence victims. We hold a strong preference for candidates who speak fluent Spanish.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct client representation under attorney supervision.
- Conduct legal research and write comprehensive legal memoranda.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives.
- Assist with case-specific tasks as they arise.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current law student. Undergraduate applications are not considered.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- A strong commitment to public interest law.
- Superior oral, written, and presentation skills.
- Professional presence and demeanor.

- This is a full-time, paid internship located on-site in New York, NY.
- The term for this position is Fall 2026.
