    About the role#

    The Technology & Operations Intern supports the Technology Operations and broader Operations teams by handling a wide range of technical and operational tasks. This role is intentionally broad, focusing on flexibility and execution to help full-time staff prioritize high-level system and operational goals. You will report to the IT Generalist and work directly with the Operations team to manage an evolving task queue.

    What you'll do#

    • Execute operational and technical tasks, including support ticket assistance, data cleanup, and documentation.
    • Perform spreadsheet organization and basic system updates.
    • Assist with vendor follow-ups, contract filing, and event preparation.
    • Adapt to a flexible task queue, taking on assignments based on current organizational needs.
    • Contribute to audits and the standardization of workflows to improve system usability.
    • Gain exposure to internal tools, systems, and operational best practices through regular check-ins.

    What you'll need#

    • Strong proficiency in Google Sheets, including formulas, structure, and data cleanup.
    • General technical comfort with an ability to learn new tools quickly.
    • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage a flexible workload and adapt to changing priorities.
    • Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions.
    • Alignment with the mission and principles of Young Americans for Liberty.
    • Preferred majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or Operations Management.
    • Basic scripting experience (Apps Script, JavaScript, or Python) and exposure to CRM systems are considered a plus.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Austin, Texas (Remote considered for exceptional candidates).
    • Term: Summer 2026.
    • Commitment: This is an unpaid volunteer internship. A $2,500 scholarship will be awarded at the end of the term. Academic credit is supported where applicable.

    Young Americans for Liberty is a nonprofit political organization founded in 2009 and headquartered in Austin, Texas. With a staff of 51 to 200 employees, the group maintains hundreds of chapters across the country to support student activism. The organization focuses on training and mobilizing students to advocate for liberty-based policies on college campuses through methods including canvassing.
