About the role#
The YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne offers a Workforce Development Cohort designed to help high school students explore career paths and gain professional experience. This paid program provides training and hands-on work to help you prepare for your next steps after graduation. You will work with YMCA leaders and mentors to build professional skills and earn an industry-recognized credential.
What you'll do#
You will rotate through three career tracks to gain experience across different areas of the organization:
- Health and Wellness: Support fitness, recreation, and healthy living initiatives.
- Youth Development: Engage with children and teens in educational and camp settings.
- Member Experience and Engagement: Build hospitality, customer service, and community relations skills.
Additionally, you will participate in structured workshops focused on leadership, teamwork, and communication. You will also develop employability skills like problem solving and adaptability through one-on-one mentorship and networking with community professionals.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current high school junior or senior.
- A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required.
- You must be eligible to work in the United States and provide proper documentation.
- You must be able to complete a minimum of 250 program hours during the cohort.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
- The program is paid, with the opportunity to earn up to $2,500.
- You will have access to YMCA programs and facilities during the cohort.
