About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern to join our Power and Energy team in San Diego for the summer of 2027. This 12-week program begins on May 17, 2027, and provides exposure to real-world projects while working alongside senior staff. You will participate in mentorship and networking opportunities through our Developing Professionals Network.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to company policies.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Electrical Engineering or related undergraduate program with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Graduate students (Masters or PhD) and those with prior internship or leadership experience are preferred.

- Compensation: $23.90 - $31.11 per hour.
