About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering (Substation) Intern for our Power and Energy team. This 12-week summer program begins May 17, 2027, and offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real projects. You will gain exposure to power delivery and generation work while participating in the Developing Professionals Network for mentorship and networking.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks to build technical and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Apply responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate, Masters, or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Strong interest in Electrical Engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Competent communication skills for interacting with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Ability to follow direction from leadership and mentors.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A proven track record of upholding workplace safety and company policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Lakewood, Colorado.
- The internship is a full-time, paid position with an expected pay range of $23.90 to $31.11 per hour.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided for this role.
